Vehicles are just like human beings. Sometimes it is not that easy to determine their mood. There are times where they are okay and there are also times when you are not expecting them to stop working. It could have been better if automobiles can speak and warn you about their condition. But, they can’t. That is why you have to inspect every part of them and make them ready before driving.
What if something went wrong while you are in the middle of your driving? What if there are only a few other vehicles passing by? One of the situations that can happen is you go someplace and leave your lights on, when you come out your car won’t start. Like the time we were going to an amusement park. We left early in the morning so we had the headlights on in our car. It was a long drive and by the time we had gotten there it was light out and so we forgot to turn off our headlights. We were in the park all day and when we came out I couldn’t find the car for one thing. It took us about 40 minutes searching for the car because we had forgotten where we had parked.
And you guessed it the car wouldn’t start. This was years ago when most people carried jumper cables so I asked someone in the parking lot if I could get a jumpstart. The first guy said no, but it didn’t take long to find someone with jumper cables and they gave us a jumpstart and we were on our way. If you don’t leave the lights on and keep your vehicle in good condition you may never need a jumpstart.
Jumpstarting involves using the power from one battery to power up another battery temporarily. To jumpstart a car, you need to know what you are doing, because you can start an electrical fire or worse one of the batteries could actually blow up.
If you don’t know how to do a jumpstart, find someone who’s qualified and knows what they are doing to help you. You can always call us and we’ll be out there in a jiffy to help you get your car going again.
There are other reasons your battery goes dead. If you didn’t leave the lights on or any other piece of electronics that drains a lot of power you could have an alternator problem. The alternator charges the battery as you drive the car.
Automotive repair shops can test your battery and alternator to see where the problem is. Find a mechanic, who can trouble shoot and help you find the problem. If the battery is working then you can test for other problems. It’s easier to fix the problem now with a mechanic than to wait until you have a break down on the road.

And then, next time double check everything before driving. I like to do an inspection of the tires, lights, mirrors, batteries, wire connections, oil, coolant, belts and hoses about once a month. That way I can stay ahead of any problems that can easily be fixed in my garage.
